A Windows account password can be used for many other reasons besides preventing someone from using your computer. Unfortunately, the password is stored in the Windows Registry as plain text. This security flaw allows anyone with enough skills to find your password. In other cases, the password can be acquired by keyloggers and other malicious programs. Safe AutoLogon can protect your password with the well known AES 256-bit encryption algorithm. Furthermore, it can log in a user automatically, even if the account is password-protected.

The application works on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 and you can find different installation files for 32 and 64-bit operating systems. The unregistered application is fully functional for 30 days, after which you must buy a license if you want to continue using certain features.

When you launch the application, a log-in window will appear on the screen. You must tick an option to enable the auto-log on feature and provide a username, a password and a domain name, to specify which user should be logged in automatically. When you restart your computer, you will see the application's logo on the Windows log-in screen. Instead of selecting a user and typing a password, you will be logged in automatically.

Thanks to Safe AutoLogon, your Windows user account can stay password-protected, but you will not have to type in your password when you turn on your computer. This can be very helpful if you need to allow auto-run applications to execute, but you can't wait until the computer boots up. As previously mentioned, the program will keep your password encrypted.

You may think that Safe AutoLogon creates a different security risk, by logging in a user automatically. It is true that anyone who is physically in front of your computer can access your personal data, but you don't need to worry. You can access the application's general settings menu to activate a series of security features, specifically for this kind of situations. The most important feature is the possibility of locking the desktop, immediately after the user is logged in. If you activate this feature, your auto-run programs and background processes will be allowed to function normally, but no one will be able to use your computer without providing the correct password.

It is also possible to restrict the application's settings to a specific users group or a domain, to enable a bypass key, to log in a user automatically if he logs off and to set up a delay for the initial automatic logon. If you enable a bypass key, you can use it when Windows starts up to stop the automatic logon. Safe AutoLogon can be used with another application from the same developers, called Safe AutoLogon Password Server, which allows you to manage and update Windows account passwords remotely.

Pros

The software can protect your Windows account password with a powerful encryption algorithm. Furthermore, it can log in a user automatically, to allow auto-run programs to execute. Safe AutoLogon can lock your desktop, right after it logs you in, to allow auto-run programs to function normally and to prevent unauthorized access to your computer at the same time.

Cons

There are no serious drawbacks to mention. With Safe AutoLogon, you can simultaneously keep your Windows account password safe, allow auto-run applications to execute and prevent other persons from using your computer.
